Designated Officer Fundamentals
This course has been designed specifically for Designated Officers in public sector organizations covered by the Public Interest Disclosure Act (PIDA). It is intended to provide you, a Designated Officer, with the fundamental information you need in your role to provide advice and receive disclosures under PIDA. It is a complement to the resource developed by the Office of the Ombudsperson, the PIDA Designated Officer Toolkit.
By the end of this course, you will:
- Understand the steps you can take to promote a speak up culture
- Appreciate the importance of confidentiality in managing disclosures and prevention reprisal
- Know how to give advice under PIDA
- Gain confidence in assessing the threshold of wrongdoing
- Be aware of tools and resources that can assist you in your role
The course will take you a 2 – 3 hours to complete, but you do not have to complete it all in one sitting. There are learning activities throughout this course, and we encourage you to complete the course and access the linked resources to maximize your learning.
